Scottsdale Unified School District meeting 2-21-2023 – Dr. Menzel Controversy

Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) 2-21-2023 meeting had an overflow of people who would request to speak.

SUSD’s controversy swirls around Superintendent, Dr. Scott Menzel, who made comments in a 2019 interview regarding his views on social justice, white privilege and stating that “white people should feel really, really uncomfortable because we perpetuate a system by ignoring the realities in front of us and living in a mythological reality.”

Dr. Menzel publicly stated, prior to the board meeting, that he will not resign and that his comments were taken out of context.
